Friday Night Juneteenth Service

When and Where
On June 13th, Temple Emanu-El and The Center for Interfaith Dialogue invite you to a special service in honor of Juneteenth, featuring the musical ensemble, The Afro-Semitic Experience. Co-founded by African-American jazz pianist Warren Byrd, and Jewish-American jazz bassist David Chevan, The Afro-Semitic Experience combines an eclectic array of styles, sophisticated musicianship, good songwriting, deep grooves, and years of friendship with a simple message: Unity in the Community. Byrd and Chevan write that, “Our friendship ignites our passion and purpose: we merge our musical roots, Jewish and Afro-diasporic melodies and grooves, combining the core concepts of àse and shalom — power, action, unity, and peace.” Doors open at 5:30 with a catered reception to follow at 7:15. We invite everyone in the interfaith community to join us on this very special evening, no registration required.
